Bloemschikken

Bloemen zijn uitdagend en heerlijk om mee te werken. omdat ze overal verkrijgbaar zijn en omdat er nauwelijks gereedschap nodig is om met bloemschikken te beginnen, is dit echt een hobby voor iedereen. Zowel de maker als de ontvanger beleven er plezier aan.

Bloemen zijn er in onvoorstelbaar veel kleuren, vormen, afmetingen en texturen, wat een schat aan fijn, creatief materiaal oplevert. Het idee om snijbloemen op een decoratieve manier te schikken, is al zo oud als de beschaving zelf. Op Oud Egyptische hiëroglyfen en Perzische steen reliëfs staan vazen met bloemen afgebeeld in huiselijke en ceremoniële omgeving.

In de 17e eeuw zetten de Hollandse en Vlaamse bloemschilderijen met hun informele, overdadig volle vazen met soms wel meer dan 25 soorten bloemen, de toon voor de bloemsierkunst voor de daarop volgende 300 jaar. In Frankrijk werden vazen in de 18e en 19 e eeuw steeds weelderiger en de boeketten steeds grote en luxueuzer.

In het Victoriaanse Engeland liepen de creaties uiteen van protserige boeketten tot eenvoudige tuiltjes veldbloemen. Begin 20e eeuw werd het westen sterk beïnvloed door de oosterse bloemsierkunst met de minimalistische benadering.

Sterk gestileerde, formele bloemstukken zijn een vrij moderne trend die zich in de laatste 50 jaar heeft ontwikkeld. Momenteel zijn informele creaties, zoals een gewone bos bloemen helemaal in.

Materialen en gereedschap

Er bestaan wel bepaalde basisgereedschappen voor bloemschikken, maar je kunt het zo duur maken als je zelf wilt.

Snijgereedschap

Zoals snoeischaren, bloemistenscharen en messen heb je nodig om stelen en draad te knippen.

Bakken en vazen

Bakken en vazen kunnen elk gewenste vorm en grootte hebben maar moeten wel waterdicht zijn. als er verse bloemen in komen te staan. Aparte voorwerpen zijn onder andere een kolenkit, paraplustandaard of een wasmand.

Steunmateriaal

Dit is meestal oase. Een alternatief is fijn gaas, dat overigens ook met steekschuim kan worden gewikkeld voor extra steun. Stelen kunnen op een bloemenprikker worden gezet.

Andere benodigdheden

Andere benodigdheden zijn onder meer een bloemistenvork, bloemistentape, bloemistendraad, plantenspuit en sierlint.

Fantasie en creativiteit

Er is een trend van ongebruikelijke of informele boeketten, waarin je veel van je fantasie en creativiteit kwijt kan. Een aparte bloem of blad kan de inspiratie zijn voor een boeket. Zo kan een lelie de blikvanger zijn waar je omheen werkt. Of een aparte basis kan het uitgangspunt zijn, zoals een stuk boomschors of een smeedijzerenlijst.

Een bak of vaas is overigens niet eens nodig. Heel bijzonder is een ‘handgebonden’ boeket dat er bedrieglijk eenvoudig uitziet. Het boeket wordt in de ene hand opgebouwd door er met de andere hand steeds bloemen en takken in te steken.

Tot slot is het grootste boeket of bloemstuk niet altijd het mooiste. Een klein tuiltje kan net zo oogstrelend zijn als een gigantisch boeket. Het gaat erom dat de maker het beschikbare materiaal zo mooi mogelijk verwerkt.
